The Huntington Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) held its successful annual Paul Costello Memorial Golf Outing on Wednesday, October 14, at the scenic Crab Meadow Golf Course. This wonderful event brought together members, supporters, and the community for a day of friendly competition and celebration. Thanks to the generosity of all who attended and donated, proceeds from the outing will directly fund the Division's ongoing community support efforts, including the vital work of keeping our local food pantries stocked.
This year, the AOH was incredibly proud to honor our own John "Jack" Ryan. A proud Hibernian for 26 years, Jack has served as both Division and County President. Born in Albany with Irish roots tracing to County Tipperary, he spent decades representing local wood products distributors, including 17 years with Kleet Lumber, after being selected for Weyerhaeuser’s Managerial Fast Track Program.
Jack’s dedication to community service is profound and was a major focus of this year's celebration. Recognizing a need in our community, he founded the food drive that has since expanded into the AOH Suffolk County John Hennessy Memorial Hunger Program, helping countless local families. He is also deeply dedicated to St. Patrick’s Parish’s Fatima Group, organizing the program and distributing prayer cards for local parishes.
Beyond his philanthropic work, Jack is an avid golfer, a 2nd-degree Jujitsu Black Belt, a champion equestrian, a former competitive sailor, and sings with the Hibernian Festival Singers. His distinguished AOH honors include being named the 2014 Suffolk County Aide-to-the-Grand-Marshal and the 2017 Grand Marshal for the Huntington St. Patrick’s Parade.
The Huntington AOH extends a heartfelt thank you to all our golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and donors. Your generosity and support made the day a tremendous success and are what allow us to continue our charitable work throughout the community. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
